REAL CONCERNS
I’m not very outdoorsy - will I feel out of place?
No. These programmes are designed for people of all backgrounds and experience levels. You don’t need any prior outdoor knowledge - just a willingness to give it a try.
What if I’m having a difficult day?
That’s okay. You’re welcome to take things slowly, sit out parts of the session, or spend time quietly in the space. There’s no expectation to be or feel any particular way.
I’m not sure if I’m ‘ready ’-how do I know?
There's no perfect time to begin. You might simply feel ready to spend time outdoors, meet others who understand some of the experience of cancer, or take a small step toward becoming more active again. If you're unsure, we're always happy to talk it through with you.

Can I take part while I'm having cancer treatment?
Potentially, yes. Some Wild Roots programmes may suit people during treatment, depending on the programme, your circumstances, and how you're feeling. We may ask you to check with your healthcare team before taking part in certain activities.

I feel anxious about joining a group - is that normal?
Yes, completely. Many people feel this way before their first session. Our groups are small, welcoming, and gently facilitated. There’s no pressure to talk or share - you can simply come, be in nature, and take things at your own pace.
I’m worried I won’t be able to keep up.
There's no expectation to keep pace with anyone else. Programmes are designed for different abilities, and activities can be adapted where appropriate. We'll explain the level of activity before you join so you know what to expect.
I haven’t been very active since treatment - will this be too much?
That's a very common concern. You don't need to return to the activity level you had before cancer. Different Wild Roots programmes offer different levels of physical activity, from gentle walking and nature connection through to more structured exercise. We'll help you find an appropriate place to start.
What if I don’t know anyone?
Most people come on their own. The small group setting makes it easy to feel comfortable, and connection tends to happen naturally over time - often without needing to say much at all.
